The Little Bird and the Kind Snow
High up in a quiet pine tree lived a tiny brown bird named Chirri. Her nest was small and round, made of dry grass, soft feathers, and hope. Inside the nest slept her three little babiesβpink, warm, and as soft as whispers.
Winter arrived early that year.
Cold winds rushed through the forest, shaking branches and making the trees sigh. The nights grew longer, and the air felt sharp, like tiny needles. Chirri wrapped her wings tightly around her babies, but her feathers were thin, and the cold kept slipping inside the nest.
The babies shivered.
βCheepβ¦ cheepβ¦β they cried softly, their tiny beaks trembling.
Chirriβs heart ached. She flew from tree to tree, searching for better shelter, but every branch was cold, and every corner was empty. At last, she returned to her nest, tired and worried. Above her, the moon watched silently.
That night, as the stars blinked like sleepy eyes, Chirri looked up at the sky and whispered,
βDear Snowβ¦ I know you are cold. Everyone says you make the world freeze. But please, I beg youβhelp me protect my babies.β
The sky listened.
Soon, tiny white flakes began to fallβslowly and gently, like feathers drifting from heaven. Snow arrived quietly, covering the branches, the ground, and finally, Chirriβs nest.
Chirri gasped.
βOh no,β she chirped. βHave I made things worse?β
But something magical happened.
The snow did not creep inside the nest. Instead, it settled around it, forming a soft white blanket. The icy wind could no longer reach the babies. The nest felt warmer⦠safer.
The babies stopped shivering.
βCheepβ¦ cheepβ¦β they sighed, snuggling closer.
Chirri touched the snow with her wing. It wasnβt biting cold anymore. It felt gentle, calm, and protectiveβlike a quiet guardian watching through the night.
βThank you, Snow,β Chirri whispered, her eyes filled with happy tears.
The snowflakes sparkled softly, as if smiling back.
All winter long, Snow returned each night, carefully wrapping the nest in its silent warmth. Other birds watched in wonder, learning that even things that seem cold can have the warmest hearts.
When spring finally arrived, the snow melted away, leaving the nest safe and strong. Chirriβs babies grew wings and flew into the blue sky, singing songs of courage and kindness.
Chirri looked up one last time and said,
βSnow, you saved us.β
Far above, a single snowflake twirled gently and vanishedβhappy and proud.
The End!
