The Adventure of Frosty the Snowman
It was a crisp, snowy morning when Lily and Jake finished building the most magnificent snowman in their backyard. They gave him a carrot nose, shiny pebble eyes, and a wide smile. For the final touch, they placed an old black top hat on his head.
As soon as the hat touched the snowman, a chilly breeze whirled around them. Sparkles of frost danced in the air.
Suddenly, the snowman blinked.
“Well, hello there!” he said with a cheerful voice.
Lily gasped. “Did you hear that?”
Jake took a step back. “He’s alive!”
“Indeed, I am!” said the snowman with a twinkle in his eye. “Name’s Frosty. Thank you for bringing me to life. But—oh dear—something’s wrong…”
“What is it?” Lily asked.
“I can feel my magic fading,” Frosty replied, adjusting his hat. “The Winter Star is missing. It’s the source of all snow magic. Without it, I’ll melt before sunrise.”
Jake clenched his fists. “We won’t let that happen! We’ll help you find it.”
Frosty smiled. “Wonderful! But we must hurry. The Winter Star shines brightest only on the longest winter night—tonight!”
The trio set off through the snowy woods, the moon lighting their way. Frosty led the way with confident strides, but the shimmer in his snowy body was already starting to dim.
Soon, they reached a clearing where a family of rabbits was hopping around.
“Hello, friends!” Frosty called. “Have you seen the Winter Star?”
The smallest rabbit twitched its ears and pointed a tiny paw. “It’s said to lie beyond the Frozen Ridge, but beware—the wind there is wild and fierce.”
Lily knelt down. “Thank you, little one. Here, have a carrot for your help.” She handed over a snack from her pocket.
Frosty’s eyes gleamed. “Kindness always finds a way.”
As they climbed the Frozen Ridge, the wind howled like wolves. Snowflakes stung their faces. Jake lost his footing and started to slip down the icy slope.
“Jake!” Lily shouted.
Frosty lunged forward, grabbing Jake with his snowy arms just in time. “Gotcha! Hold tight—we’re almost there.”
When they reached the top, they were breathless. But the view was worth it. Snow-covered trees sparkled below, and in the distance, a glowing blue light pulsed gently.
“The Winter Star!” Frosty gasped. But his voice was weaker now, and patches of snow were starting to fall from his sides.
They raced down the slope, slipping and sliding, until they reached a deep snowdrift. The star was buried beneath it.
Lily knelt down and began digging with her hands. “We’re not giving up now.”
Jake used a stick to carefully push snow away. “Easy, easy… I see something!”
Together, they cleared the snow until a crystal-like star shimmered in the moonlight. Frosty reached for it with trembling arms.
The moment his snowy fingers touched it, a beam of light shot into the sky. The Winter Star floated above them and glowed brighter than the moon.
Snowflakes swirled in dazzling patterns. The forest lit up with silvery light. Tiny snow spirits danced through the air, laughing with joy.
Frosty stood tall once more, his body sparkling like fresh powder. “Thank you, my brave friends. Because of you, I’ll return each winter to spread joy.”
Then, the Winter Star gently floated up to the sky, taking its place among the constellations. It twinkled brightly, like a magical promise.
As they made their way home, the first light of morning stretched across the sky in hues of pink and orange. In the backyard, Frosty returned to his original place and froze still, now full of magic and wonder.
Lily touched his pebble hand. “See you next year, Frosty.”
Frosty gave one last wink. “Until our next adventure, my friends!”
And from that day on, whenever the Winter Star sparkled in the night sky, Lily and Jake remembered the snowy friend who came to life—and the magical night they saved him.
